Welcome all; to my humble abode! This is my first post, and as such I feel it is only proper for me to give a slight introduction before I go and piss off the World.
My name is Jeremy, I'm currently a student with aspirations of becoming a doctor. On top of my studies, I'm also an Emergency Medical Technician in a volunteer ambulance corp. out here on Long Island, New York. My hobbies include reading, writing, fencing, and fighting...that's almost poetic isn't it? Now onto the good stuff.
We find ourselves in a time of unrest, doubt, and uncertainty; yet, through all of this...nobody is willing to put up a fight? Yes, I read people complaining on places like topix.net and other comment/blog-spaces; however, what about actions? What ever happened to the protesters that lined the streets in the fifties, sixties, and seventies when the government needed to be reminded of it's duty to the people? To be gay today is like be black fourty-years ago. The economy is terrible, and in the face of a growing energy crisis...where is the relief? You have to fight for everything, and there are those of you out there who want others to do it for you. You have to get your hands dirty at some point, otherwise we risk losing more than we already have.
Whether or not you want to believe this, the United States of America was founded upon conflict and warfare. Since 1775, there hasn't been a war we have missed and a battle we haven't fought in the name of "patriotism" and "liberty." These words have been hijacked and turned into nothing more than useless rhetoric and talking points. Samuel Johnson once said, "Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel," and all you have to do is look at the current administration and their ilk to confirm this. To speak out against them, you're labelled "unpatriotic," or "unAmerican." They've taken "liberty" and replaced it "civil responsibility." And traded in our own freedoms for the sake of security. At what point does it go too far? When is it enough? Why aren't more people doing something about all of this?
This blog is about my opinions and personal views, I accept the fact that not everyone is going to agree with me; all I ask is that you take what's said...and then become another voice. Don't sit back and let everyone make decisions for you. If you don't agree with me, say so; if you do agree with me, say something; but above all, do something. Don't join a silent majority.
